Episode 21 of Salt City FC began with a recap of Real Salt Lake’s win over the Philadelphia Union and their humiliating defeat against the Houston Dynamo last night. Sean and Jake talked about if there’s anything redeemable about the humiliating setback in Houston and looked ahead to the FC Dallas match for RSL.
This week’s guest on the podcast was Real Salt Lake Women’s Head Coach Mark Davis. He talked to Sean and Jake about the formation onf the team, the league they play in, the challenges of being a semi-pro side and also talked about the Salt Lake Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams that he also is the head coach of.
Sean and Jake then took some time to look at the red-hot Real Monarchs and their six match win streak. They talked about the growing national attention for the team and the depth the squad boasts. Sean and Jake also took a minute to look at the BYU men’s soccer team who are off to a solid start to their PDL season and have their home opener this weekend.
Sean and Jake recapped all the action in MLS from the midweek matches in Canada and the United States. They looked ahead to the weekend coming up before transitioning to talking about the United States Men’s National Teams, both of which are in action this weekend against Venezuela.
The guys broke down a phenomenal performance by the U-20 World Cup team in their 6-0 drubbing of New Zealand before turning their attention to the National Team Friendly taking place at Rio Tinto Stadium this Saturday. RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando is suiting up Team USA while Jefferson Savarino was called up to join the Venezuelan National Team for the match.
Finally, Sean and Jake gave a shout out to the new hire for the UVU Women’s Soccer Team and talked about the transfer ban for Atletico Madrid being upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
