Real Salt Lake hit the training ground on Tuesday as they come off back-to-back victories, most recently a 2-1 triumph over the Colorado Rapids last Saturday thanks to two late goals from Yura Movsisyan and Brooks Lennon.
RSL head coach Mike Petke talked to the media after training as his team prepared to host Atlanta United on Saturday night. He talked about the importance of the mentality his team has taken on and the resulting wins the last two weeks. He acknowledged that it’s a results-oriented business but stated that had the Claret-and-Cobalt lost their last two matches, he would have been happy with the team’s state and psyche.
He said that Atlanta United is not a typical MLS expansion team and that they are quite balanced. He said that the front four or five of Atlanta’s attack were extremely dangerous and that his team would need to be prepared for that. Petke didn’t give specific updates with regards to injuries, saying it’s too early in the week to make any definitive declarations:
Real Salt Lake forward Brooks Lennon talked to the media after training about his game-winner for RSL on Saturday. He talked about the feedback he received and what he wants to do going forward. Lennon said that he’s moving past his first career MLS and RSL goal and eager to continue to prove he’s worthy of the starting position along Real Salt Lake’s frontline:
