The Utah Jazz are on solid ground at the 4th seed in the Western Conference standings and looking strong as they head into a tough stretch to end the regular season.
Howard Beck of Bleacher Report joined “The Big Show” on Friday and talked about one of the biggest influences and reasons for Utah’s success this season, Rudy Gobert.
Beck said every general manager hopes and prays that their draft picks, regardless of position, will end up having the drive that Gobert has displayed in his young career.
“This is the kind of young star you want. One committed to continually evolving and expanding his game.
“It’s what you hope for…some guys come in the league and establish one aspect of their game,” Beck continued. “You can become dominant as a shot blocker or rebounder, but I think Gobert’s court awareness and his ability to use his athletic gifts and his length and everything as an effective offensive player as well has been a real eye opener.”
It’s not just one guy’s opinion, either, as the analytics back up everything Beck was bringing to the table on Friday.
“The results bear it out. The advanced stats on him, and his on/off court numbers bear it out. He’s become a phenomenal player, and he’s as indispensable for them as anyone.”
