BYU is bowl-bound after its most recent victory over Southern Utah University Saturday, winning the game 37-7.
Taysom Hill threw for 320 yards, and Hans Olsen looked at game footage to evaluate maybe the QB’s best game of the season. Hans notes that part of the reason Taysom looked good is because BYU’s receivers were also playing well.
Back up quarterback Tanner Mangum got in the game with the Cougars up 14-0 and BYU fans got a look at the man who stepped up last season. Mangum showed some flashes, but he didn’t have a perfect run, as Hans points out in his film breakdown of Mangum’s action. He did show some nice footwork and provided some variety for the BYU offense.
After reviewing the QBs, Hans dives in to all sorts of minutiae from the BYU-SUU game, including why BYU had three turnovers, which BYU defensive lineman is NFL-caliber and how KJ Hall could be in BYU’s future.
“I like that kid,” Hans said while showing Hall’s touchdown drive. Even though it was against SUU, he thought Hall showed things in his minutes.
“Shows speed, shows awareness, show’s some ability. I think he’s going to be a good player for BYU.”
