‘The Zone’ Offers Extensive Local College Football Programming
Lineup includes “Football Fridays,” Cougar and Ute preview shows
SALT LAKE CITY (August 22, 2013) – The Zone Sports Network today outlined its extensive college and professional football radio programming, featuring former coaches LaVell Edwards, Ron McBride and Brandon Doman, along with expanded NBC Sports Radio coverage of the National Football League, including play-by-play coverage of the Sunday tripleheader, Monday Night Football and every playoff game including the Super Bowl. The Zone Sports Network is heard on 1280 The Zone (KZNS-AM), 97.5 (KZNS-FM) and 960 (KOVO-AM).
For the second season, “Football Fridays” with Edwards, the retired Brigham Young University (BYU) head football coach, and McBride, the former University of Utah and Weber State University head football coach, will air on Fridays from 1-3 p.m. with Scott Garrard as the co-host.
Doman, the former BYU offensive coordinator, joins the weekday “Mornings with DJ & PK” show with David James and Patrick Kinahan on Mondays and Fridays at 8 a.m. Doman and Garrard will also co-host the Cougar Preview Show on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m.
Former Utah safety Steve Tate and Garrard will host the Ute Preview Show on Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. Other college football contributors to The Zone’s football lineup will include former BYU defensive lineman Jan Jorgensen, former BYU cornerback Ben Criddle and former Utah State quarterback Riley Jensen.
“Our local college football coverage features the expert commentary of true insiders who have been part of the state’s rich football history,” said Randy Rodgers, general manager of The Zone Sports Network. “We believe this is the best place on the radio dial for complete analysis of the games that will inform and entertain our passionate college football fans.”
The Zone’s coverage of each college football program in the state features pre and postgame shows for every BYU and Utah football game. All Utah State University games will be broadcast live on 1280 AM, starting with the Utah State-Utah game on Aug. 29. The Zone will also be on location for each contest in the state to provide fans with live updates and breaking news.
NBC Sports Radio will provide NFL game coverage on Sundays and Mondays, while bringing NBC personalities such as winning Super Bowl coach Tony Dungy and six-time NFL Pro Bowl quarterback Donovan McNabb as contributors to The Zone’s local programming.
