Hatch of Knowledge: Former BYU Cougars in the Pros
BYU has 14 former players playing in the NFL currently. As a part of the “Hatch of Knowledge” series I will be collecting how each player performs throughout the 2013 season and compiling their stats for you to read up on weekly. Without further ado, here’s how Week 3 of the NFL Preseason went for the former Cougars.
NFL Preseason Week 3
Dennis Pitta is still meeting with doctors about a possible late season return to play in the NFL. He has not been placed on season ending IR just yet by the Ravens.-Still in a holding pattern with the Ravens on Pitta.
Former BYU QB John Beck had a workout with the Bills and impressed but did not end up getting an offer from Bills as the team decided to sign former Heisman winner Matt Leinart.
Harvey Unga played on special teams but did not register any stats in a 34-26 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
Uona Kaveinga was waived by the Broncos as they trimmed their roster to get to 75 players on Monday.
Romney Fuga played but did not register any stats in the Bronco’s 27-26 victory over the St. Louis Rams.
Ziggy Ansah had 1 assisted tackle and a fumble recovery in 40-10 victory over the New England Patriots. Ansah has been rumored to have gotten a concussion in the game and has sat out of drills the last two days but the Lions have been coy on revealing Ziggy’s status.
Matt Reynolds played at tackle in 26-20 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
John Denney played at long snapper in 17-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Dallas Reynolds played at center and guard in a 31-24 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Brett Keisel had 1 solo tackle and forced a fumble in the 26-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hebron Fangupo played but did not register any stats in the loss to the Chiefs.
San Francisco 49ers
Austin Collie had 1 reception for 8 yards in 34-14 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Based on reports it looks like Collie may be cut by the 49ers but nothing official has been announced yet.
St. Louis Rams
Braden Brown waived after being placed on season ending IR with a back injury.
Bryan Kehl had 5 total tackles (2 solo) and forced a fumble in a 30-7 victory over the Buffalo Bills.
Vic So’oto recovered a fumble in the victory over the Bills.
