Hatch of Knowledge: Former BYU Cougars in the Pros
BYU has 14 former players playing in the NFL currently. As a part of the “Hatch of Knowledge” series I will be collecting how each player performs throughout the 2013 season and compiling their stats for you to read up on weekly. Without further ado, here’s how Week 1 of the NFL Preseason went for the former Cougars.
NFL Preseason Week 1
Dennis Pitta is on season ending IR after dislocating his hip and undergoing surgery.
Harvey Unga-3 attempts for 15 yards rushing (long of 8 yds) and 1 reception for 11 yards in 24-17 loss to the Carolina Panthers
Uona Kaveinga registered 1 solo tackle vs. 49ers in a 10-6 victory.
Romney Fuga had 1 solo tackle vs 49ers in the win.
Ziggy Ansah had 2 solo tackles and 1 interception, which he returned for a TD, in a 26-17 victory over NY Jets.
Matt Reynolds played at tackle in 17-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
John Denney played at long snapper in 27-3 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Dallas Reynolds played at center and guard in a 31-22 loss to the New England Patriots.
Brett Keisel registered 1 tackle in the Steelers’ 18-13 loss to the New York Giants.
Hebron Fangupo played but did not register any stats in the loss to the Giants.
San Francisco 49ers
Austin Collie had 2 receptions for 20 yards (long of 16 yards) in the 49ers 10-6 loss to the Broncos.
St. Louis Rams
Braden Brown waived after being placed on season ending IR with a back injury.
Bryan Kehl had 4 total tackles (2 assisted) in the Redskins’ 22-21 victory over the Tennessee Titans.
Vic So’oto had 2 assisted tackles in the victory over the Titans.
