THE ZONE TO BROADCAST LIVE FROM THE ROAD HOME ON DEC. 18-19
Miller Sports Properties participates in Holiday Media-Thon through donations, volunteers and publicity for annual fundraiser.
The Zone Sports Network will broadcast live from the Road Home on Dec. 18-19 to help bring in donations to the shelter. The Zone is one of 11 local radio or television stations participating in the fundraiser through its on-air drive for monetary and in-kind donations. The collective efforts of the Holiday Media-Thon raised about $1.5 million in 2013.
In addition to financial contributions, the Road Home is also accepting donations for men's gift bags containing hygiene items and warm accessories to go to more than 800 men in shelter programs.
Members of the Salt Lake Bees staff are working as volunteers in the warehouse on Dec. 18. The Road Home seeks volunteers both on the street collecting donations and in the warehouse sorting and organizing donations on Dec. 18-19. Visitwww.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c49afa92faafd0-2014 to sign up as a volunteer.
A variety of items have been donated by Miller Sports Properties as giving incentives, including tickets for EnergySolutions Arena events, merchandise from the Tour of Utah and donations from Miller Motorsports Park. The fundraiser will continue to operate with the local media stations from Dec. 20-24.
Here are a few reasons to give:
* It only takes $9.00 to shelter one person for one night. A gift directly impacts the lives of people who are working to overcome homelessness.
* The Road Home prides itself on doing the most good with your generous donation. Ninety-four cents of each dollar donated goes directly to providing shelter, housing, or supportive services to the individuals and families staying with us. Every donation counts.
* The Road Home has an 87 percent success rate in the family Rapid Rehousing Program. The Road Home is also proudly ranked as a Four Star Charity, the highest rating possible, by Charity Navigator for the past nine consecutive years.
* The Road Home helps more than 700 men, women, and families every day. The need for emergency shelter has dramatically increased in recent years.
The Road Home is located at 210 S. Rio Grande Street in downtown Salt Lake City. More information is available at www.theroadhome.org.
