Jake’s Final Four
March 20th, 2008
First off another picture of Jim with blue hair… It is day number six, he claims to have a strange story involving the blue hair and an old lady…Tune in at 1:00 to hear, it’s bound to be good.
It’s finally the day that we have been waiting for all year long, Thursday opening day of the big dance. Here is how the Jakesters day began…
8:00 a.m. Out of bed.
8:10 a.m. Consume toast with peanut butter on top.
8:30 a.m. Watch the Real World Road Challenge “Gauntlet III” Final on TIVO.
9:30 a.m. Newspaper time
10:00 a.m. Set in position for games to begin.
Yeah, I know, best morning in the history of the world right? I could not be in a better mood (ask me again after I receive my first phone call from Kevin Graham).
The Jakesters final four…
Have you noticed that more people than usual are just picking the better seed on their brackets? I admit it I am no different I have Carolina vs. UCLA in the finals with the Tar-heels coming out on top.
UNC has the best player in the country in Hansbrough. Lawson and Eatmon will take care of business on the perimeter, plus they are the best team in the best conference (what do you want it’s the ACC? I pick with my heart in the tournament). With UCLA, it pains me to pick a PAC-10 team to go that far, but they have the guard play and look real tough (I bet that is the first time today that guard play has been mentioned). I picked Georgetown in the Midwest. This same team (more or less) made it happen last year, Roy Hibbert is not in the NBA yet. Finally, I hope that people are right this year and it plays out with the good teams on the grand stage. That is what I want to see, the best teams in the country going for the biggest prize. Teams like George Mason and Montana are cute winning in the first couple of rounds, doing the dirty work taking out three and four seeds, so the big guys don’t have to. I want to see the best players, the best teams and the best programs making it happen. But as we know some team will get hot, some team that is not a one or two seed is going to the final four and I have accepted this probability and decided that Pitt will make it to the final four. Teams with one loss have not faired that well in the tourney in recent history and that does not bode well for the Memphis Tigers (who will run out of gas at some point during tournament play). Two seed Texas is in the Big 12 and I know better than to count on that conference in tournament play, so Pitt is what’s left.
I must say that I am very happy that I am not in charge of the office competition (can you say pool in Utah?). If you got stuck with that duty in your office, my sympathies, the best part about the tournament being here is no having to listen to Kevin Graham (insert the name of that guy in your office here) complain about every thing. Get out next year my friends, if you don’t put a stop to it now you will be stuck year after year.
As I admitted earlier I did watch the Real World Road Rules Challenge “Gauntlet III” final this morning. My only comment is a moral question for you P1’s…
If you we racing on a beach, running miles, chained to nine other people, and one of those people is so spent he collapses and his health may be in serious jeopardy, do you:
A: Call for help, make sure the guy is going to make it.
B: Yell insults at him even though he is not responding to anything
C: Try to prop him up, and threaten to drap him threw the sand because $300,00 is on the line.
You would be surprised which direction people will go…
