LAKERS 109 JAZZ 98…GRAHAM SLAMS ON GAME 1:
May 4th, 2008
Listen to Exclusive Post-game interviews in the audio section of the website.
-By the effort they showed in the 3rd and early 4th quarter and the domination they showed on the boards, you can’t say the Jazz were completely fatigued after playing just 38 hours earlier. However what happened was a familiar losing formula for this team. Too many times they decided to settle for jump shots even though they had success when they ran the offense and attacked inside. Turnovers were an absolute killer in the first half. Defensively, as usual, they struggled inside and allowed too many open shots. Unlike Houston, this Laker team will actually bury those. Also unlike Houston, the Lakers aren’t as strong defensively. So going forward if the Jazz have a shot it’s pretty simple…just run the offense and try to play a little defense.
-Carlos Boozer showed glimpses of old form early but then settled and struggled with the jump shot, failed to produce up to his regular season average and fouled out with 3:28 to play. While he struggled with his shot, I thought Memo played aggressive. Deron Williams was awful. If anyone was tired I would definitely say it was him. These next two days off should help him the most.
-Jerry Sloan joked during an in-game interview in the 1st half that there is no way they can stop Kobe and would have to tell all his players to guard him. I think he’s right. Kobe can do whatever he wants, when he wants. I think in the end Kobe is the only one who can stop Kobe as we saw in the second half.
-I think the Jazz have offensive A-D-D. They run their offense, have success, then stop running the offense and settle for jump shots. Then there is a timeout. Sloan reminds them to run the offense again. They do and then seem to forget again. They may want to get some medication for this issue.
