Happy Mothers Day to all the Mom’s…Quick thoughts from the Energy Solutions Arena on this thrilling Game 4:

-What a game.  The Jazz seemed to control much of the first half only to see the Lakers fight back late to tie the game.  The Jazz had a 12pt lead in the 4th only once again to see LA with some huge 3pter’s from Derek Fisher and plays from Lamar Odom send the game into OT.  That’s when Okur hit some huge jumpers, Deron Williams (who was absolutely awesome) found AK for a three point play and Kobe continued to misfire from the outside.  The Jazz hit some late FT’s and now they are guaranteed to come home for one more game.  Now they have to try to bottle up what they were able to do here at home to try to steal Game 5 on the road Wednesday.  One thing is for certain, the pressure now shifts to the Lakers.

-There will be even more pressure on LA if Kobe can’t shake off the back spasms.  It obviously had an impact on his game but it didn’t prevent him from firing away anyways.
Phil Jackson said afterwards he was disappointed his teammates didn’t pick up the slack in OT and the bench in the 4th qter.  If Kobe was truly ailing I thought he should have forced it less and distributed it even more particularly down in OT.  After burying some huge 3’s in the 4th, Fisher didn’t even take a shot in OT.  Odom just got one shot off.  Those two were hot, Kobe was not.

-While he hit some huge free throws in the final seconds of regulation, I thought Boozer was off once again.  That turnover in OT where he let the ball go off his hands was inexcusable and on the AK key dunk Boozer was open as well and DWill chose not to go to him.  Also how many times did he have his shot blocked?  He’s having serious issues getting his game going against the long armed Lakers.  In regulation Paul Millsap picked up the slack offensively and defensively.  He actually played all the way until the 5:05 mark of the 4th before Boozer returned.

-The Jazz bench I thought played great.  As I mentioned above Millsap was strong as was Kyle Korver hitting some key shots and Matt Harpring playing his typical aggressive game.  The heart award goes to Ronnie Price getting four stitches after taking that shot from Ronny Turiaf, returning in the 2nd half with a highlight block of what should have been an easy fast break lay-in for Luke Walton.

-The Jazz seemed destined to control this game in the first half.  They were the aggressor while the Lakers struggled from the floor and the FT line.  Derek Fisher’s foul trouble really hurt LA and allowed Deron Williams to dominate Jordan Farmar.  The Lakers though closed the half on a 19-8 run thanks to a line-up featuring Vujacic/Walton/Kobe/ Odom/Gasol.

-Talked to some of the guys trying to sell tickets before the game and all were complaining for the lack of business and how they were taking a bath.  That’s what happens on a Sunday in Utah.  Any other place sales would have been brisk.

-Definitely more Laker fans were in attendance today than Friday but the Jazz crowd overall did a great job shouting them down.  With that said there were open pockets of green seats which would be surprising but then again it is a Sunday in Utah.
