GAME 1 THOUGHTS LIVE FROM TOYOTA CENTER IN HOUSTON
April 19th, 2008
-The Jazz didn’t play their best game but it was good enough. As our own John Lund pointed out in our Most Interactive Playoff Post-game Show in the Country different players stepped up in different parts of the game.
-I have been as harsh on AK as anyone but he played a phenomenal game. In the locker room afterwards he was as excited and happy as I have seen him in the last three years and rightfully so based on what he went through here a year ago.
-When the Jazz bench plays well, they most always win. Led by Kyle Korver’s 11pts the Jazz bench finished with 28pts on 11-18 shooting while the Rockets reserves finished with just 17pts on 5-18 shooting.
-The Rockets just aren’t very good. I’ve never seen a NBA team shoot more bricks than this one. Tracy McGrady started strong getting his teammates involved and attacking the basket. As the game went along however TMac and his teammates started settling for jumpers. If they want to have any hope to avoid a sweep they have to attack the Jazz inside.
-One of the keys for the Jazz was steal one of the first two here. Now that they got the first one they should smell blood and go out and take game two. That way they can get the sweep, rest and get ready for a second round showdown most likely against the Lakers.
